What's a Raspberry Pi?
No you can't eat it.
The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-card sized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or tv. It was originally developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote teaching of basic computer science in schools and developing countries. It has grown to be much, much more. It's low cost and portability has made it popular outside its target market for uses such as web servers, media centers, game emulators, robotics and maker projects. As of December 2019, more than thirty million boards have been sold.
There have been several generations of Raspberry Pis released. All models feature a Broadcom system on a chip (SoC) with an integrated ARM-compatible CPU and on-chip GPU. Processor speeds range from 700 MHz to 1.5GHz and RAM ranges from 256 MiB to 8 GiB depending on model and generation.

What can you do with one?
There are many things you can do or make with a Raspberry Pi. For instance:
- You can use a Raspberry Pi as a desktop computer and learn to code with Scratch or any of the included software (Raspbian or Raspberry Pi OS).
- Learn how to use Linux without the fear of messing up your computer.
- Create a website and run it on your very own web server.
- Build a robot.
- Run it as a media center with something like OSMC or LibreELEC.
- Create a VPN to access your home network from anywhere.
- Retro Game Emulator.
As you can tell I love the Pi. Tinkering with a Raspberry Pi has quickly become a hobby of mine. It's amazing what you can create with a bit of imagination and time.
