Well, it finally happened I picked up a Low Rider ST. For a while there, I was slowly turning my Street Bob into my own version of the Low Rider S. But once I started researching inverted forks, I knew where this was headed.
2024 Harley Davidson FXLRST
It wasn’t an easy call. I really liked my FXBBS. I’d put a lot of time and effort into that bike, and it was solid. But in the end, the Low Rider ST just made more sense for the kind of riding I want to do. I needed something better suited for longer rides, and the FXBBS wasn’t cutting it. The ST gives me everything I was looking for bigger motor, more fuel range, better brakes, more comfortable suspension, and way better wind protection.
About six months ago, I test rode both the FXLRS and the FXLRST. At the time, the Low Rider S didn’t feel like a huge upgrade over my Street Bob, and I wasn’t quite sold on the bags on the ST. I crunched some numbers, even tried to work something out with the dealer, but we couldn’t agree on a price. So I went home and focused on upgrading what I had. I started with raising the rear suspension, moved on to a few cosmetic tweaks like a license plate relocation kit, and just kept riding.
But the idea of the ST never left my mind. I started eyeing inverted front ends and dual disc brake conversions, and that “what if” feeling started creeping in hard. The more I looked at the Low Rider ST, the more it seemed like the right fit. With the 2025 models around the corner and motorcycle sales cooling off, the timing felt right. So I did it I traded in my Street Bob and brought home a Low Rider ST.
No regrets. Honestly, my only regret is not doing it sooner I probably would’ve saved some money in the long run.
So far, I’ve made a few mods. First to go were the stock seat and shotgun exhaust. I swapped in a Saddlemen SDC Pro Gripper seat (wasn’t sure about the backrest, but it’s removable and turns out I actually like it). For the exhaust, I went with an SPC Big Bore 2-into-1 and paired it with a Dynojet Power Vision Tuner.
The stock bars were fine, but I missed the T-bars from my FXBBS, so I went with 11" Lucky 13’s from Lucky Dave's to get that nice bit of pullback. Since I was swapping bars, I upgraded the grips too grabbed some Brown ODI Vans Lock-On grips to tie in with the bronze wheels. Other mods include Flo MX pegs, passenger pegs, Death Metal Racing Destroyer Levers, and I brought back the Moons MC Fly Eye headlight I loved so much this time the v2 version.
I’m super happy with how it’s riding now. There are still a few things I want to do like upgrading the taillight. I’ve been seeing posts about the rear fender splitting at the light, so I’m hoping a lighter setup might help avoid that.
For now though, I’m just enjoying the ride.
